With Apologies to William Carlos Williams

So much depends

gold

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
-Robert Frost
I love this poem. As I was working on the page for the gold inchie swap at Altered Art Obsession, I couldn't help but recite it in my mind over and over again. Winter is turning to Spring here in North Carolina. The light is pale golden, and tender shoots are pushing their way up through brown earth.
